Turning Girls into Unbridled Heroes!
There is something pretty majestic about a mustang horse…wouldn’t you agree? What’s even more majestic is a group of girls supporting each other to help a local farm that rescues and rehabilitates these beautiful creatures. Our September volunteer day led us to the Unbridled Heroes Horse Farm in Saddle River, NJ, founded by former U.S. Marine Amy Steppe, who created this non-profit to help other military veterans suffering from PTSD. She pairs rescued American mustangs with veterans to help rediscover their heroes within. As she says, “The result is unexpected, unscripted, and unbridled.” Amy’s powerful story of how she fell into the amazing work that she does, building her team of strong women, and how she went from feelings of despair and depression to triumph and love was truly inspirational for our girls, who also helped to clean the farm and build a stone walkway. The best part of the day was bonding with these majestic horses and creating a friendship and an experience that will last a lifetime.
